Current Status of the Republic of Somaliland:

The Republic of Somaliland fulfils all the criteria for statehood under international law, but still remain unrecognised. This page deals with the current status of Somaliland under international law,  as a so called de facto state, and Somaliland’s understanding of its international obligations and comittment and approach to international law.

The case for recognition of Somaliland is explored further in this separate page.
